The CEC publishes the preliminary electoral lists and candidates

The CEC published today the preliminary register of electoral lists and candidates for the upcoming Local Council Elections scheduled October 8th according to the published elections timeline at the premises of the local authorities, CEC district offices and webpage: www.elections.ps.

The preliminary list will remain published for three days, as of today, to allow electoral lists and their candidates to verify the accuracy of their nomination data and enable lists and citizens to review the names of lists and candidates and object to the nomination of a list or candidate to the CEC. Rejected lists may also submit objections to the CEC during that period.

The CEC will review and decide on the received objections until 4:00 PM of Wednesday, August 31st 2016. CEC decisions are subject to appeal before the Court of First Instance within three days of their issuance. The Court will adjudicate appeals and issue its final decisions within five days of appeals submission.

The preliminary list shows that the CEC has received a total of 874 nominated lists; 787 of which in the West Bank and 87 in Gaza Strip. The CEC approved the nomination of 867 lists upon meeting the legal nomination requirements and declined the nomination of 6 lists in the WB and 1 in Gaza due failing to meet the nomination conditions. Both approved and rejected lists were notified, in writing, of acceptance or rejection.
