CEC staff receives training on how to incorporate the needs of people with disabilities into their work

As part of its vision to ensure a free and equal participation of the various segments of society in future elections, the CEC organized a two-day training workshop in cooperation with the General Union for People with Disabilities (GUFPWD) to 32 of its core staff in Al-Bireh. The workshop aimed at discussing and developing mechanisms to incorporate the needs of people with disabilities into CEC’s future work and procedures.

The first session discussed the definition and types of Disability and the local and international legislations pertaining to people with disabilities. In the second session, participants developed initial plans to align CEC procedures to respond to the needs of people with disabilities and provide them with better access to CEC services in future programs and plans.

In a later stage, the CEC and GUFPWD will work together to develop the initial plans into more detailed programs serving the needs of people with disabilities and a true inclusion to ensure equal rights and opportunities for them.

It should be indicated that this workshop was funded by UNDP and comes as part a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the CEC and the GUFPWD as part of project ‘’ Enabling People with Disabilities’ funded by UNDP.
