CEC meets with representatives of political parties

Today the CEC Chairman Dr. Hanna Nasir met with representatives of political parties at CEC’s Headquarters in Ramallah.

The meeting discussed mainly CEC’s latest preparations for the upcoming local elections and the legal timeline for complementary elections scheduled on 24 November in the 78 localities which didn’t qualify during the last nomination period. Nomination will be conducted from 9-18 October 2012. 

Other issues discussed were the early voting for security forces, elections campaigning and polling and counting procedures.

A the end of the meeting Dr. Nasir urged political parties to abide by electoral campaigning regulations and stressed the importance of adhering to the principle of objectivity by government officials and refraining from using government resources or public and religious institutions in any campaigning activities
