The CEC announces the preliminary nomination results

The CEC has finalized the data entry and processing of nomination applications of electoral lists wishing to compete in the upcoming local elections scheduled on 20th October. In its session No. 9 on 14th September 2012, the CEC approved the nomination of 549 lists and rejected 32 others.

 

According to Local Council Elections law No. 10 of 2005 and elections timeline, the CEC will publish the approved list of candidates for each locality at CEC district offices and the premises of local councils for three days as of Sunday, 16th September until Tuesday, 18th September from 8:00am -4:00 pm. The list will also be available at CEC’s webpage: ww.elections.ps.

Representatives of lists will have access to the preliminary list of candidates and can verify the nomination information of the list and candidates. Voters will also be able to object, in writing, to the nomination of any list or candidate specifying the basis for their objection.

On the other hand, the CEC will notify representatives of the lists whose nomination were denied the reasons for rejection through a special notification from.

According to the provisions of the Local Council Elections Law, the rejected list may refer to the concerned court to appeal CEC’s decision within three days of being notified.
