The CEC meets with the ERSG and signs a funding agreement with the UNDP

Today, the CEC held a regular meeting with the Elections Reform Support Group (ERSG) in its headquarters in Ramallah.


The meeting which was headed by CEC Chairman, Dr. Hanna Nassir and attended by CEO, Mr. Hisham Kuhail, discussed technical issues related to the set up of Gaza newly opened headquarters  as well as  preparations to update the voter registry in the Strip upon receiving confirmation from officials there.


In another context, the CEC concluded a funding agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to support activities aiming at building the capacities of CEC staff and strengthening relations with election stakeholders.


The 700,000 USD programme will be implemented over one year and will  include activities to develop the capacities of CEC’s departments and offices, strengthening civic engagement with elections stakeholders mainly, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), media, political parties and democracy institutions, and developing CEC’s capacity to manage technical electoral assistance.


At the end of the signing ceremony, Dr. Nassir thanked UNDP for their generous contribution in supporting activities that are part of CEC’s three year strategic plan for 2010-2012 to build its capacities to be able to maintain readiness for any future elections.
