On November 20, Mr. President, Mahmoud Abbas, issued the following decree:

Presidential decree No. ( ) on the appointment of two CEC Commissioners
President of the PLO Executive Committee
President of the Palestinian National Authority
After reviewing the provisions of the amended Basic Law of 2003 and its further amendments, and the provisions of the decree issued by a law No. (1) of 2007 pertaining to general elections, and based on the authorities invested in us, and for the sake of public interest:
We hereby issue the following decree:
Article (1)
The following shall be appointed as members with the Central Elections Commission:
1. Judge Sazzz*zada Fawzi Al-Dajani
2. Advocate Hussain Ibrahim Shabanah
Article (2)
All competent authorities, each within its own jurisdiction, shall implement this decree. The decree shall enter into force upon its issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette.

It should be indicated that the CECzzz*zs Chairman, addressed a letter to the president on November 8,2007 to inform him about the vacant positions in the CEC due to the resignation of Dr. Mohammad Shubair and because Ms. Lamis Al-Alami is currently holding a Ministerial post.
