The CEC organizes students Parliament elections in Jerusalem Basic Boys School

In coordination with the UNRWA, the CEC participated in organizing students parliament elections in Jerusalem Basic Boys School, one of URRWA schools. The CEC prepared all procedures necessary for holding the elections starting with the registration of students and ending up with the announcement of results after providing students with the necessary training.

The CEC prepared the necessary training materials including the ballot papers, the counting protocols, the ballot boxes, votes ink and seals and observed all aspects of the electoral process.

The students parliament elections were held on December 12, 2006 with 15 candidates competing on the 6 Parliament seats. 90 out of 140 of the registered students participated in the electoral process. Elections were preceded by electoral campaigning period where students communicated directly with their candidates.

The counting of votes and the announcement of results were conducted by the students themselves in the presence of Jerusalem district coordinator, Mr. Zeiad Al- Bakri, CEC trainers, the school principal, teachers and advisors. After the elections, students expressed their happiness in participating in such a democratic process.

The CEC has previously helped in organizing studentszzz*z parliament elections in Jerusalem Girls School in October, 2006 where 6 out of 15 candidates were elected.
