Voting for the second Palestinian legislative elections commenced today at 7:00 AM. The CEC is operating 1,008 polling centers in the 16 electoral districts that contain 2,721 polling stations. By 10:00 AM, the voter turnout had reached 17%. Gaza's electoral district had the highest voting percentage which reached 24.4 %. The total number of voters in all West Bank districts is 118,394 or 15%, while the total number of voters in Gaza's electoral district now stands at 97,944, or 20.2% of the total number of registered voters.
The voting process has been running smoothly in all electoral districts. 1,332,499 eligible voters have headed for the CEC-operated polling centers. 414 candidates are competing for PLC seats at the district level whereas 11 electoral lists with 314 candidates are competing nationwide.
There are 18, 736 polling staff members, 1,025 of which are center managers. The CEC has finalized all logistical preparations for today, including all the necessary polling materials.
