Yesterday, Dr. Hanna Nasir, the CEC Chairman, met with the FM of Spain, Miguel Moratinos in the presence of Dr. Rami Hamdallah, the CEC’s Secretary-General, and Mr. Ammar Dwaik, the CEC’s Chief Electoral Officer, in Ramallah.
During the meeting, several issues were discussed regarding the second PLC elections scheduled for 25 January 2006. Dr. Nasir explained the CEC’s preparations for polling day, stressing the importance of the participation of Jerusalemites, alongside other Palestinians, in the electoral process. The early voting for security forces was also discussed. The CEC explained that it is ready to conduct early voting on the assigned date in the polling centers designated by the CEC.
Mr. Moratinos expressed his appreciation to Dr. Nasir for the CEC’s efforts and its contribution to the electoral process and stated that the EU and Spain support the process of democratization in Palestine.
