The Central Elections Commission (CEC) completed today the centralized training program for women activists as part of ongoing project ‘’ enhancing women political participation in elections’’ funded by the government of Norway. The CEC implemented three training sessions both the West Bank and Gaza Strip targeting a total of 90 women activists from partner organizations.
The training focused on exploring the challenges facing women and limiting their political participation, mechanisms for enhancing women electoral participation and the various electoral systems and their effect on women representation. In the second phase, partner organizations will present work plans to support women electoral participation.
It should be indicated that the second phase of the project will involve conducting 38 training sessions targeting over 1000 participants from all districts under the supervision of the CEC and women activists selected in the first phase for the aim of raising awareness on the importance of women political participation.
