Women Comprise Nearly Half of Registered Voters in the 2021 Palestinian Elections

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) saluted Palestinian women today in honor of International Women's Day, which falls on March 8th each year, stating in a press release that the number of women registered to vote in the upcoming 2021 Palestinian elections reached 1.247 million, constituting approximately 49% of the total number of registrants in the preliminary voter registry. The Rafah governorate witnessed the highest rate of registered women (approximately 50%), while the lowest rate was recorded in Jerusalem (around 47.6%).

The CEC Meets with Political Factions

CEC Chairman, Hanna Nasir, met today with Secretaries-General of Palestinian political factions and briefed them on the latest developments with regards to the upcoming Palestinian elections as well as the nomination conditions for the 2021 legislative elections scheduled on 22 May.
