CEC participates in launching “Her Participation, Our Future” Initiative in Libya

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) participated in launching the national campaign for enhancing women’s participation in elections under the slogan “Her Participation, Our Future”, held today in the Libyan Capital, Tripoli, in cooperation with the Arab Network of Women in Elections, associated with the Arab Organization for Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs), and the High National Election Commission of Libya.

The CEC’s Commissioner, Dr. Ahmad Al-Khalidi, headed the Palestinian delegation to Libya, which included the CEC’s CEO, Mr. Hisham Kuhail, the Director of the Electoral Procedures and Training Department, Mrs. Suhair Abdeen, and the Head of the Training Section, Mr. Mohammad Abu Arrah.

The campaign, which was previously launched in Palestine coinciding with the convening of the local elections 2021 and in Tunisia during the latest legislative elections, aims to enhance women’s participation in elections. Women’s participation in elections is prioritized by the Arab organization of EMBs across its programs and activities, through the Arab Network for Women in Elections, established by the organization itself in order to support women and empower their active participation in the electoral process, in terms of candidacy and voting.

Attended the launching a crowd of Arab and foreign experts in addition to the representatives of the Arab States participating in the conference, especially the Chairman of the High National Election Commission – Libya, Dr. Emad Al-Sayeh.

On the side of the launching event, Dr. Al-Khalidi, on behalf of the CEC presented Dr. Al-Sayeh, Chairman of the Libyan High National Election Commission with a model of blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, as a token of appreciation of the historical brotherhood between the Palestinian and Libyan peoples.

It is worth mentioning that the CEC is a finding and active member of the Arab Organization of Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs). Mr. Hisham Kuhail, the CEC’s CEO is also the Chairman of the ArabEMBs Executive Office, and Mrs. Suhair Abdeen is the Chairman of the Arab Network for Women in Elections.
