CEC approves the Final Results for the Second Phase of the Local Elections

Tuesday, April 5, 2022

The CEC announced today (Tuesday) its approval of the final results for the Second Phase of the Local Elections; which were announced on the 27th of march as final results for the Second Phase of the Local Elections. That came after the legal period of objections ended before the Elections court, which also did not affect the results of the elections.

Throughout the objections phase, the elections’ court received four objections on the preliminary results of the elections, which were announced by the CEC on Sunday the 27th of March 2022. The court decided to deny all submitted challenges. Accordingly, the results of the elections became final and irrefutable. They were also published on the CEC’s website: www.elections.ps.

The CEC submitted the final official results of the elections to the Ministry of Local Government along with winning certificates for the lists and candidates in the 50 localities in which the local Elections were held. The CEC also delivered winning certificates for 23 localities who had lists that won by acclamation.

It is worthy of mentioning that the Elections happening on 26/03/2022 did not take place in 29 localities. The CEC has referred their names to the Cabinet, in order for a decision to be made about the state of their local councils.
