Welcome to the Central Elections Commission in Palestine (CEC).  The CEC is an independent body in charge of administering, conducting and supervising presidential, legislative and local elections and referendums in Palestine. In addition, the CEC is responsible for voter education and registration, the organization of elections, and the implementation of procedures necessary to secure the integrity and freedom of elections.

The CEC is headed by a board of nine members appointed by the President of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA). The President also appoints the Chairman and the Secretary General of the CEC.  Members of the CEC are normally chosen from amongst senior judges, lawyers and academics of the Palestinian community.

When there are no elections going on, the CEC is committed to enhancing voter awareness, education, and registration.  The commission is constantly working to improve its ability to assure free and elections and wide voter participation is an essential part of that.
