Presidential Decree No 2 of 1995 on the elections

The President of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, President of the Palestinian National Authority,

Having seen the Law # 5 of 1995 concerning the transference of powers and competences; Having seen the Law # 13 of 1995 concerning the elections; Based upon the powers bestowed in me;
I hereby promulgate the following Decree:

First:

The allocation of the Palestinian Legislative Council seats
The seats shall be allocated to the constituencies as follows:

Serial No Constituency No of Seats
1 Jerusalem Six
2 Gaza City Ten
3 Jericho One
4 Rafah Five
5 Nablus Eight
6 Salfit One
7 Tulkarem Four
8 Bethlehem Four
9 Northern Gaza Seven
10 Hebron Nine
11 Tubas One
12 Ramallah Seven
13 Jenin Six
14 Deir Al-Balah Five
15 Qalqilya Two
16 Khanyounis Seven

 

 

Second:

Pursuant to Article 5 of the Palestinian Electoral Law of 1995, the following seats shall be reserved for the Christians:

1. Gaza Constituency    One seat
2. Ramallah Constituency    One seat
3. Bethlehem Constituency    Two seats
4. Jerusalem Constituency    Two seats

Third:

Pursuant to Article 5 of the Palestinian Electoral Law of 1995, a seat shall be reserved for the Samaritan Community in Nablus Constituency.

Fourth:

The President and members of the Central Elections Commission must implement this Decree. The Decree shall enter into force upon its issuance and shall be published in the Palestinian Official Gazette.
 
Issued in the city of Gaza on 14/12/1995 A. D., corresponding to Rajab 21, 1416 of the Hijri.
