Tuesday, April 9, 2019

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) launched yesterday a project titled’’ political parties and elections’’ funded by the Government of Norway.

The first training workshop was held in Ramallah yesterday, which comes as part of a series of training workshops to be implemented over the coming six weeks in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The aim of the project is to strengthen partnership with political parties and increase public confidence in the integrity and transparency of the electoral process by increasing the level of participants' electoral knowledge of legal texts and active role of political parties during and after the electoral event.

The training will focus on the families of electoral systems, the legal framework governing the electoral process and the role of political parties during the electoral cycle. The training will include interactive activities, debates, open discussion sessions and focus groups.

The Training will target around 200 participants from political parties. Participants will be required to develop work plans for political parties outside the electoral event and a code of conduct during elections in addition to mechanisms to enhance relations between political parties and the CEC.
